20 years of photojournalistic experience

I am a 41 year old professional freelance photojournalist,
NPS photographer and Filmer based near Innsbruck, Austria. I do stills and movies and love to take Sports, Travel and Landscape footage as well as astronomic TimeLapse footage.

Check out my two new TimeLapse Videos on Vimeo, both of them have been featured on
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC news. For example „The Island“ has been downloaded more than 590.000 times, viewed 120000 times from over 150 countries of the world since it’s start on Vimeo. I am very happy about the global recognition both projects get!

living and working at the heart of the alps

For me it is a privilege to live and work here in one of the most spectacular urban / mountain landscapes of the alps - near Innsbruck / Austria. During the past 20 years I have for example lived and worked in Atlanta (US), Vienna (AT), Munich, Stuttgart (GER) but always knew: I need to be where the Mountains are... Originally a textile engineer and IT / network specialist working in the textile CAD/CAM sector, I always felt the love for Journalism and Photography. As an early adopter of Mountainbiking in Austria around 1988, my first photo and freelance assignments with „bike“-Magazine, Germany started in 1992. Since then I developed a love to the sport that continues until today. For that reason my journalistic career is based deep in the world of cycling outdoor sports. I have worked more than a decade as a editor in chief, senior tech-, event- and travel editor for various Mountainbike Magazines and continue today as a freelancer.

in-depth knowledge of the bike magazine business and industry

In 20 years I have witnessed all the ups and downs of the Bicycle-, Tourism- and Magazine industry - from the side of an editor as well as from within the industry: 6 years as marketing key accounter at Austria's biggest
cycling distributor were a great time. but after that I also knew: I am not the office guy. I need to be out on the mountains.

As of today I still work in my core photographic and editorial business, but have diversified my portfolio and use my excellent contact network for business consultancy in the Bicycle- and Tourism Industry, connecting both trades and markets, creating new content and projects. In these fields I cooperate with reknown Munich PR Agency
Hansmann PR.

diversified consultance portfolio

I am a consultant for the
Austrian Summit Club (Member of the Instructor Team), project Mountainbike Course program. I am also a bicycle program consultant for mc2alpin.at, project mountainbike week travel packages within the huge mc2alpin Travel- and Expedition program. Finally, since 2009 I cooperate with Munich filmmaker/photographer Vincent Breysacher of One-Eye-Vision.com on Media Projects (Photo/Video/Web).

mountains and me

In my rare free time - and if I am not exploring new trails and locations on my bike, photograph Mountain Landscapes at Day and
Night or enjoy time with my family hiking - I maintain and host my special project Vertriders.com - Innsbruck's Mountainbike Soul Riding Community Website since 2001.

So, check out what is going on in my
blog and if you don’t mind, here are some more inevitable images of „da man“ in action, because - hey - it is rare that the photographer appears in front of the lens...
